Meet my boyfriend!

Meet my numero uno, my partner in crime, the love of my life; Scott. While he may not feature much on my 'gram, he's a huge part of my life and has been for almost 7 years, so,  I thought it was about time I shared a bit about him!

A B O U T  H I M

Name: Scott / Scotty
Age: 24 (1 year older than me!)
Occupation: Building Certifier
Insta Handle: @thebarmann

He loves... Playing guitar, fixing things that are broken (he's a classic handyman), snowboarding, mixing cocktails, eating (especially bacon) and spending hours at the beach!
His personality is... Laid back, sociable, generous, sarcastic, adventurous, extremely driven, loyal, hardworking and a true perfectionist!
I fell for him because... He has a passion and drive that inspires me, he is fiercely loyal and I am beyond confident that he will have my back, always.

A B O U T  U S

We've been together for... Almost 7 years!

We met... At a high school party (we went to different schools). It was Scott's end of school party and I was in the year below.
Our perfect date is... We love the drive-in on date night! It's like a comfier movie date with endless snacks!

Does he take your Instagram photos?

About 90% of my photos aren't taken by Scott, mainly because my blog is purely professional and when I spend time with Scott I like it to be off the clock. I hate when the valuable time we have together isn't spent enjoying each other's company and Scott definitely doesn't enjoy photoshoots like I do, so I try to avoid asking him!
That being said, if we're out an about or have a fun job such as an event or restaurant review to do, Scott is more than willing to step up to the task! He'll also step-in if I've got a tight deadline or really need help, even if my shoots are really intense and he couldn't care less about my #ootd!

Why aren't you guys married?

The longer we stay together, the more this question gets asked! We've been together for nearly 7 years and in that time we've both completed degrees, moved cities, had a long distance relationship (Scott lived in Brisbane for 9 months), each started our own businesses, I've lived abroad, Scott did his honours, we bought a house, moved appartments twice, did a huge Europe trip and so, so much more! So, we've been kinda busy!
We've both known for a long time that we want to spend the rest of our lives together and marriage won't change that, so we've been prioritising our other goals instead. We've been setting up our life together in so many other ways that are more important to us than a piece of paper saying we're committed, we knew that ages ago.
But we do want to get married eventually, not because we have to, but because we've each found our person and that's awesome! For us, a wedding will just be a huge party celebrating the best thing that ever happened to us and we can't wait until the time is right!

Where was your first date?

Being 17 and living in the coastal Aussie town of Newcastle at the time, Scott asked me out to the beach (which I later found out is his absolute favourite place!). We laid on the sand and talked until we got hungry, then we went and ate burgers. We then drove all the way in town to get ice-cream and went for a walk along Newcastle harbour as the sun set. I was so worried before the date that it would be awkward and we wouldn't have anything to talk about but I don't think we stopped talking the whole time. It was so easy and that's how I knew it was right!

Do you guys ever fight?

I wouldn't say we really 'fight', like the kind where we don't talk to each other or we're brought to tears. We're both really laid back people and we've been together so long that we know what to do when the other is frustrated (Scott just feeds me or shows me videos of dogs). On all the big things, we tend to agree and we know the small stuff isn't worth worrying about, although I still take any chance to argue that tomato sauce belongs in the fridge!

How did you know he was the one?

I think, the main thing for me was that it was just so easy. It wasn't forced or a lot of work to be together, we just started dating and never stopped! There wasn't really a particular moment that I knew, but I remember thinking from very early on, even at 17 years old that I couldn't imagine my life without him in it. I remember my parents getting scared because for a high school relationship we were pretty serious. They sat me down and warned me about heartbreak and told me to be careful, they didn't know it at the time, but I did, this guy was the opposite of all their fears, he wouldn't be the reason for heartbreak, he'd be the reason I'd never have to experience it.
